Take Courage

Take courage.

It’s what we say when we are faced with opposition and danger; when we just don’t know what to do next or how we will ever stand up to whatever troubles arise.

It's what we tell ourselves when we just aren’t sure how to get through this present obstacle or trial.

Courage is the strength to resist opposition, danger, or hardship- it implies firmness of both mind and will in the face of danger or extreme difficulty.

Yes, we must take courage.

This is what Jesus told his disciples the night he walked to them across the water when they were in distress and were facing the danger of drowning.

The waves thrashed and thronged around them, tossing their boat to and fro across the angry water, threatening to capsize the vessel.

Through the wind, thunder, waves and pelting rain, they saw something; or rather, someone.

They saw only a figure, a silhouette, at first through the sheets of rain and bolts of thunder- and they assumed he was a ghost.

But Jesus called out to them,

“Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

And he whispers the same to you now in whatever trial you are facing.

And he will come to you, like he did for His Disciples, through the eye of the storm across the choppy waters- and supply and equip you with the courage to conquer the storm around you.

Just Take Courage.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid.

-Joshua 1:9
