Provisions for the Future

Around our house in the spring and summer, we have a lot of work to do.

Like planting and working three large gardens with our grandfather, buying and loading hay, or sometimes dragging and chopping wood, Canning or freezing some of what we get out of the garden, like making strawberry jam and corn-cob jelly, canning green beans and carrots, freezing corn and blackberries in our freezers, etc.

We have a large cupboard in our basement full of canned goods.

In about a month, we will hopefully have half the shed full of hay.

And our grandfather should have enough fire wood for the winter.

You may be asking, Why, That sounds like way too much work?

Is it even worth the effort?

We are making provisions for the future, even though it does take a lot of work.

Because regardless of what we all think or believe, we know one thing is for sure- Winter is coming.

Whether we are ready for it or not, it’s coming, and we need to be prepared.

If, Jesus does not come back first.

So many people today know Jesus is coming Again, yet they are not getting prepared. Some may even reject the idea altogether.

This world is so distracting and it tries its very best to tell us that we can ‘worry about it tomorrow’.

But in light of Eternity, we need to worry today. We need to prepare and get ready for Eternity, today. Even if it does mean hard work, because sometimes the world does make it hard work for Christians, but, our reward will be so much greater when we see Jesus and live with him for eternity, than whatever we have to give up, or whatever the world is promising.

So lets make provisions for Eternity. Lets be ready for Jesus!

Jesus has told us, Behold, I come quickly.

" Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect".

Luke 12:40.

" Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also".

Matthew 6: 19-21.

" For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now i know in part, but then shall I know just as I also am known".

1 Corinthians 13:12.
