Lake of Fear

Walk with me for a moment, to a small body of water. Perhaps a small lake.

Called the Lake of Fear.

From afar, the waters are crystal clear, and the brightest shade of blue-green. It is absolutely beautiful.

But look a little closer.

For, in truth, the waters are dark and murky; full of dangerous creatures waiting beneath the surface.

You step closer to the surface, bending over the edge, and peer at your reflection.

What do you see?

Do you see a person wrecked with sin, searching for something you cannot explain? Do you see your awful past and everything you’ve done?

Don’t look anymore.

That’s just the fear talking.

You see, the Lake of Fear is our world.

Showing promises of beauty, but truly is a pool of sin and deceit.

Filled with a crowd of worldly people.

Telling you one of two things;

One, that sin is okay;

Or Two, telling you that you cannot move past your sin.

But I’m begging you, don’t listen.

Because Sin is bad, but you can move past it.

With Jesus.

Take your sin, and drown it in the Living Water of Jesus Christ, our Savior.

Wash yourself clean, and rise up a new creature.

Let Jesus define you, and show you his reflection of you.

Let His voice rise above the crowd.

And listen to Him.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new

creature: old things are passed away; behold all

things are come new
