He loves us

We have all heard about- or maybe played- the game little girls play when they wish to learn if the object of their affection returns that affection.

The girl will pick the petals from a flower (often an Ox-eye Daisy), while repeating the same thing alternatively with each petal.

“He loves me,” or

“He loves me not.”

And she continues eagerly on until there is only one petal left.

How sad she is when the last  petal tells her, “He loves me not” -but what wondrous rapture is it when she receives the message that “He loves me!”

But, it is only a game and cannot deny or confirm the fact of if we are loved or not. We are only questioning the daisies, urging them to tell us the truth about love.

While Valentine's day has been turned into a day of proclaiming our love for our significant others, it is also a lonely, painful day for some.

Some may be experiencing the aching void of a lost loved one or even reeling from a sudden heartache that left them broken and vulnerable.

But one thing we never have to question this Valentine's day is this:

“Does He love me?”

The answer is always the same. God loves you- no matter if you are lonely, hurting or happily in love- God loves us all the same.

So friends, drop those flowers. You are loved beyond measure, more than you can ever imagine- by the very God who created you.

Because He loves us.

Beloved, let us love one another,  for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only son into the world, so that we might live through him, in this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us, and sent his son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
