Giving your All

I want to look at the story called, ‘The Widow's Mite’, found in the book of Luke.

Many wealthy people were at the temple dropping gifts of money into a collection box, as well as some poverty-stricken citizens. One of these was a poor widow, who stumbled up to the collection box, and let two meager copper coins fall from her withered and trembling hand.

She was old, she had no childern to help pay the tributes, and her huband was no longer there to care for her needs.

She didn’t know it, but Jesus was standing nearby, observing the people dropping their money into the box, and He saw her.

And He told his disciples this,

“I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.”

She gave Everything she had left.

Friend, I want you to know that your gifts given in secret, that may have gone unnoticed but cost you everything, did not go unnoticed by an all-seeing God.

He sees everything, hears everything, and knows about everything going on in your life right now. And He cares about it all.

God is pleased when we hold our hands out to Him, empty as they may be, and ask Him to fill them. Despite our inadequacies, faults, failures, short-comings and disobedience, God is happy and gratified when we give Him our best- All of our best.
